Surfer lists a Standard plan at $99 a month on yearly billing, or $119 a month on monthly billing, with 360 documents to create or optimize and a WordPress integration (surfer.ai/pricing, read October 22, 2026). Surfer calls itself an "AI Visibility Platform," built around a content editor, so it is an optimizer first. Automatic blog publishing is not listed. For tools that research, write and publish posts, see Paperboy, Outrank, SEObot, Arvow and RightBlogger below.

Paperboy makes this comparison, and Paperboy is one of the options. Paperboy is an AI SEO article writer and publisher by Hive Asset Group, LLC. It researches, writes, fact-checks and publishes articles to your site.

Surfer alternatives at a glance

"Not listed" means we did not find it on the pages we read. It is not proof the feature is missing.

Surfer: pick it when it fits better

Surfer describes itself as an "AI Visibility Platform for maximum organic growth" and an "AI Search Operating System." Its homepage lists a Content Editor with real-time SEO and AI search guidelines, a Content Audit, a Topical Map, an AI Tracker and an AI Visibility Audit. The navigation also lists Surfer AI, but the homepage and pricing page do not describe how the writer works (surfer.ai).

On the pricing page, Discovery is $49 a month on yearly billing ($59 monthly) with 120 documents, 10 tracked pages and 1 seat. AI Search Analytics is $82 yearly ($95 monthly) and tracks 50 AI prompts refreshed daily, with no content documents. Standard is $99 yearly ($119 monthly) with 360 documents, 25 AI prompts refreshed weekly, 3 seats and WordPress and Google Docs. Pro is $182 yearly ($219 monthly) with 360 documents, 50 prompts refreshed daily and 5 seats. Peace of Mind is $299 yearly ($359 monthly) with unlimited documents, 100 prompts and Zapier. Enterprise is custom pricing (surfer.ai/pricing).

Pick it if you already write or draft posts and want a score, guidelines and AI visibility tracking while you edit.

Limit: it is built to optimize content, and the pages we read do not list automatic publishing, keyword-to-live-post automation or a fact check (surfer.ai, surfer.ai/pricing). A free trial is not listed with a length. Prices are per plan, with seats and documents capped by tier.

Paperboy

Paperboy "researches, writes, fact-checks and publishes SEO articles to your own website." Your first article is free with no credit card, and you see the finished article before you pick a plan. You can approve each article first or leave it on autopilot (paperboyseo.com).

Pick it if you want finished posts published on a schedule, with each number checked against a linked source and held when it fails, from $49 a month (paperboyseo.com).

Limit: it writes SEO blog articles only, with no content score editor or other content types listed. Shopify, Wix and Webflow publishing are coming soon. A backlink service and an AI search tracker are not listed. Search Console is an optional connection that sharpens topic picks (paperboyseo.com). Languages are not listed on the page we read.

Outrank

Outrank lists "30 SEO-optimized articles per month generated and published on auto-pilot" for $99 a month, or $999 a year, with automated keyword research, automated backlink building and 150+ languages. Add-ons include 60 articles a month for +$85 a month and a "Human Curated Service" at $1,399 a month (outrank.so/pricing). See our Outrank alternatives page.

Pick it if you want 30 articles, backlink building and 150+ languages in one plan.

Limit: a fact check is not listed for the $99 plan (outrank.so/pricing).

SEObot

SEObot says "subscriptions start at $49/mo" and lists 50+ languages, articles averaging around 3,000 words with support for up to 4,000, and a fact checking system that cites sources (seobotai.com). See our SEObot alternatives page.

Pick it if you publish to HubSpot, Notion or a REST API and want a listed fact check starting at $49 a month.

Limit: the page does not describe what its fact check compares (seobotai.com).

Arvow

Arvow runs on credits. Solo is shown at $39 a month, marked as a limited-time offer with $69 as the regular price, for 1,000 credits and 1 website. It lists AutoBlog, Site Optimizer and "150+ supported languages" (arvow.com/pricing). See our Arvow alternatives page.

Pick it if you want 150+ languages and a long publishing list, and are fine budgeting credits.

Limit: a fact check is not listed on the pricing page (arvow.com/pricing).

RightBlogger

RightBlogger lists Solo at $49 a month billed annually or $59 month to month, Pro at $69 or $89, and Agency at $199 or $299, each with a 7-day free trial. All paid plans list unlimited AI words and blog automation, with scheduled publishing capped at 5 posts per site per day (rightblogger.com/pricing). Its homepage said it "finds keywords, writes SEO articles, publishes to your blog, and shares them on social" (rightblogger.com, read October 20, 2026). See our RightBlogger alternatives page.

Pick it if you want social sharing with your blog posts and a free trial.

Limit: a fact check is not listed on the pricing page (rightblogger.com/pricing).

What a fact check compares

"Fact-checked" can mean different things, so ask each tool what it compares.

Paperboy's check works like this (paperboyseo.com):

  • Every number in the article must appear in the source it links to.
  • Every cited sentence is compared with that source's own words.
  • If anything fails, the article gets one rewrite.
  • If it still fails, it is held for you instead of being published.

That is a check against the source text. It does not tell you whether the source itself is right. SEObot lists a fact checking system that cites sources (seobotai.com), but the page does not describe the method. Surfer's pricing page lists a plagiarism checker and an AI detector, which are different checks, and does not list a fact check (surfer.ai/pricing). With any optimizer or general writing tool, plan to check names and numbers yourself.

Do you need AI search tracking?

Surfer lists an AI Tracker on its homepage and tracked AI prompts on its plans, across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, AI Overviews and Gemini on the AI Search Analytics plan (surfer.ai, surfer.ai/pricing). Arvow lists AI visibility trackers on its pricing page (arvow.com/pricing). An AI tracker is not listed on paperboyseo.com. PickCheck, a sister product of Paperboy, offers a "Free AI visibility check for local businesses," so you can check whether AI names your business. No tool can promise that AI answers will mention you.
