Privacy policy

Paperboy is a service operated by Hive Asset Group, LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect when you use Paperboy, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions: hello@paperboyseo.com.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address and a password (stored only as a one-way hash by our authentication provider).
- Your website: the address you give us and what we read from its public pages: text, page titles, links, colors and logo, so we can describe your business and write in your voice.
- What you tell us: your answers to the voice questions, banned claims, words to avoid, and settings.
- Publishing credentials: if you connect WordPress, Ghost or a webhook, the application password, Admin API key or signing secret you provide. These are stored on our servers, are never shown to anyone else, and are used only to publish your articles.
- Google Search Console data: if you connect it (see the section on Google data below).
- Billing: handled by Stripe. We receive your plan, subscription status and the last four digits of your card; we never see or store full card numbers.
- Usage and logs: basic server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) kept for security and debugging, and records of the AI work done for your account (tokens used and cost).
- Free article limits: to keep the free first article to one per person, we store a scrambled (salted, one-way hashed) form of your network address, a random identifier in a cookie on your browser, and a normalized form of your email address with any "+" tag removed. We use these only to prevent abuse of the free article, never for advertising or tracking across other sites.
How we use it
- To run the service: pick article topics, research and write articles, check them, publish them, and report on how they perform.
- To bill you and to send service emails: your first article, approval requests, problems that need you, and the weekly report (which you can turn off).
- To keep the service safe and to prevent abuse, such as more than one free article per person or per website.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use your content or your Google data to train AI models.
Google user data
When you choose "Connect Search Console", you sign in with Google and grant Paperboy one permission: read-only access to your Search Console data (the webmasters.readonly scope). We cannot change anything in your Google account or in Search Console.
- What we access: the list of Search Console properties you can see, and, for the property that matches your website, search performance data: search queries, pages, clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position, by day.
- How we use it: only to provide features you see in Paperboy: choosing which articles to write next for that website, deciding which published articles to refresh, and showing you traffic and performance on your dashboard and in your weekly report. Search queries and page performance may be included in prompts sent to Anthropic, our AI provider for Claude, solely to choose topics for your site; Anthropic does not use this data to train its models under its commercial terms. We never send Google user data to an AI provider whose terms allow it to train on that data: while articles are written with Moonshot AI's Kimi models, your Search Console data is not sent to any AI provider and topics are chosen from web research instead.
- Storage: the Google refresh token and the performance data are stored encrypted at rest with our database provider (Supabase) and are only readable by our servers. Data is kept for as long as the website is connected to your account.
- Sharing: we do not share, sell or transfer Google user data to anyone, except to the service providers listed below as needed to run the features above, when required by law, or as part of a merger or sale of the business with notice to you.
- Humans: no person at Hive Asset Group, LLC reads your Google data, except with your permission to help with a support request, when needed for security or to comply with the law.
- Deletion: disconnect at any time from Site settings in Paperboy, or remove Paperboy at myaccount.google.com/permissions. Disconnecting deletes the stored refresh token right away. Deleting the website from Paperboy, or asking us by email, deletes its stored Search Console data within 30 days.
Paperboy's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Who we share data with
Only the providers that run parts of the service for us:
- Supabase (database and sign-in), Netlify (hosting and the hosted blogs), Anthropic (the Claude models) (the AI models that write and check articles), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), and Google (Search Console, when you connect it).
- Kit (newsletter signups), only if you subscribe to the blog newsletter.
- The websites and platforms you ask us to publish to.
Articles you publish are public on your website by design.
How long we keep it
While your account is open. If you delete a website or your account, we delete the related data within 30 days, except billing records we must keep for tax and accounting law.
Your choices and rights
You can see and change your information in the app, turn off the weekly report, disconnect Google, and delete websites. You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account by emailing hello@paperboyseo.com. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California) you may have further rights, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Each customer's data is separated at the database level, so one customer can never read another's. Publishing credentials and Google tokens are never sent to your browser.
Children
Paperboy is a business service and is not for anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will email you before the change takes effect.
