Can I self-host Paperboy?
Yes. The engine is AGPL-3.0 and runs with Docker and your own keys. The public repo is coming soon.
How do I start?
These are the planned steps. The repo is not public yet, so they will not work until it is.
git clone https://github.com/gleason24-sketch/paperboy.git
cd paperboy
cp .env.example .env # add your model and search keys
docker compose upWhat is open?
- Topic selection with the SERP gate, research, writing, publishing to WordPress, Ghost and webhooks, the Search Console sync and the rank loop.
- The fact check with an open rule-based judge, or a model judge with your own key.
- The CLI (package @paperboyseo/cli, coming soon) will work against your own instance with --self-host.
What do I bring?
A Postgres database (Docker Compose includes one), a model API key and a search API key. The model bill is yours.
What does the hosted product add?
The hosted verifier, hosted blogs on your domain, the dashboard, the calendar, the MCP server and managed scheduling. See pricing.
