Paperboy for Zapier
Call Paperboy from a Zap with the MCP Client app, or catch its signed webhook when an article is published.
Set up
You will add a Zapier app connection to the MCP Client app that points at Paperboy, then call Paperboy tools from a Zap step.
Go to the Apps page in Zapier and click + Add connection.
Search for and select MCP Client, then click Add connection. A Connect an Account page opens.
Enter Server URL https://paperboyseo.com/mcp, choose Streamable HTTP under Transport, set OAuth to No, and paste pb_live_YOUR_KEY into the Bearer Token field. Click Yes, Continue to MCP Client.
Rename the new account to paperboy so you can tell it apart if you add more servers.
In a Zap (or an Agent), add a step with the MCP Client app and the Run Tool action, pick the paperboy account, choose a Paperboy tool such as get_sites, and test the step.
Server URL: https://paperboyseo.com/mcp
Transport: Streamable HTTP
OAuth: No
Bearer Token: pb_live_YOUR_KEYReplace pb_live_YOUR_KEY with a key from Settings, API keys, and never commit it. The MCP docs list every client we cover.
How to tell it worked
Add a MCP Client Run Tool or Run Read-Only Tool step, select the paperboy account and the get_sites tool, then test the step. A successful test returns your Paperboy sites in the tool result.
What you get
Eight tools, the same engine as the dashboard. Reads are free. A pack is $20 for 100 credits; see how credits work.
get_sitesLists your sites with plan, publishing method and whether Search Console is connected. Every other call starts from a site id.
suggest_topicsReturns the next articles to write, each with the search data that is the reason for it.
write_articleStarts a fact-checked article and returns an id at once. The run takes a few minutes. It does not publish unless you pass publish: true.
get_articleReturns the article's status, its fact-check verdict and every source. Poll it after write_article until it reads published or needs_review.
check_claimsFact checks any public URL or pasted Markdown and returns each cited claim with the sources it was compared against.
publish_articlePublishes an article that passed the fact check to the site's publishing target. It changes the live site, so the agent should ask first.
get_performanceSearch Console clicks, impressions and average position for a site, by day and by article.
get_queriesThe queries a site, or one article, appears for in Search Console. This is where page-two keywords show up.
Try it
Plain requests. The tools each one uses are listed under it.
“When a new row is added to my Content Ideas sheet, ask Paperboy to write an article for that topic on my main site, then post the article link in Slack.”

“Every Monday morning, pull my top search queries from Paperboy, keep the ones sitting on page two, and add them to a Zapier Table.”

“When Paperboy's webhook hits my Catch Raw Hook after an article is published, post the title in #content, and every Friday send me the site's performance numbers.”

Why
Zapier has two similar names. The MCP Client app, in beta, lets a Zap call a remote server like Paperboy. Zapier MCP at mcp.zapier.com points the other way, with Zapier acting as a server for other clients. This page uses the first.
Two details save an afternoon. Set OAuth to No, because Zapier ignores the Bearer Token field when it is Yes. And use Catch Raw Hook, not Catch Hook, to receive Paperboy's webhook, since only the raw version includes the headers you need to read X-Paperboy-Signature.

Honest notes
Quirks of this client that can cost you an afternoon.
MCP Client is a beta feature and only supports tool calls. Set OAuth to No for Paperboy: the docs say that if you select Yes, the Bearer Token field is ignored.
Zapier MCP (mcp.zapier.com) is a different product. It exposes your Zapier apps to AI clients such as Claude or Cursor, and the MCP Client app does not support connecting to Zapier's own MCP servers. This page is about Zapier calling Paperboy.
To read the X-Paperboy-Signature header in a Zap, use Catch Raw Hook. Catch Hook parses the body, while Catch Raw Hook returns unparsed data (max 2MB) and includes headers. Treat the webhook URL like a password.
FAQ
No. Zapier MCP lets AI clients use your Zapier apps. To have Zapier call Paperboy, add an app connection to the MCP Client app at Apps > + Add connection and use https://paperboyseo.com/mcp.
Streamable HTTP. The Transport field offers Streamable HTTP and SSE, and Paperboy's MCP server uses Streamable HTTP.
The MCP Client action has a Handles errors field. If it is disabled, the step is always Success in Zaps (or Completed in Agents). Enable it to make the step fail and show the error message.
Yes. Create a Zap with Webhooks by Zapier as the trigger, copy the Catch Raw Hook URL, and use it as the Paperboy webhook destination. Use Catch Raw Hook rather than Catch Hook if you need the X-Paperboy-Signature header.
The tools that read cost nothing. Suggesting topics costs 1 credit, writing a fact-checked article costs 12 credits (refunded if the run fails) and a fact check on its own costs 2 credits. A pack is $20 for 100 credits.
Only if you let it. write_article defaults to publish: false, so a finished article waits for a human, and the tool descriptions tell the agent to ask before publishing. You can also give the agent a read-only key.
