Paperboy for Make
Try Make's MCP Client app against Paperboy, and fall back to the HTTP module with a keychain if the token is not sent the way Paperboy expects.
Set up
You will try Make's MCP Client app first, and use the HTTP module with an API key keychain as the documented fallback for the Paperboy REST API.
Make's MCP Client app (open beta) connects a scenario to a remote MCP server by URL and has an API Key / Access token field. The docs do not say which transports it supports or how the token is sent, so test the connection and fall back to the HTTP module (documented, works with a Bearer header) if it fails.
Open a scenario, add the MCP Client app module Call a tool, and click Create a connection.
Optionally enter paperboy as the Connection name. In the MCP Server field click + New MCP Server and enter https://paperboyseo.com/mcp in the URL field.
Paste pb_live_YOUR_KEY into the API Key / Access token field and click Save.
Pick a Tool Name such as get_sites, map any Arguments, and run the module once.
For AI-driven steps, add Execute an action with AI instead: select the Tools Make should use, choose a Connection type, and describe the job in the Task field.
If the connection or the call is rejected, build the same step with HTTP > Make a request and the API key keychain shown above.
Connection name: paperboy
MCP Server: + New MCP Server
URL: https://paperboyseo.com/mcp
API Key / Access token: pb_live_YOUR_KEY
(click Save)
Then in the module:
Tool Name: get_sites
Arguments: (map the tool's fields)Replace pb_live_YOUR_KEY with a key from Settings, API keys, and never commit it. The MCP docs list every client we cover.
How to tell it worked
The MCP Client app shows the tools available on the connected server, with required and optional fields marked. Run Call a tool with get_sites and check the output bundle for your Paperboy sites.
What you get
Eight tools, the same engine as the dashboard. Reads are free. A pack is $20 for 100 credits; see how credits work.
get_sitesLists your sites with plan, publishing method and whether Search Console is connected. Every other call starts from a site id.
suggest_topicsReturns the next articles to write, each with the search data that is the reason for it.
write_articleStarts a fact-checked article and returns an id at once. The run takes a few minutes. It does not publish unless you pass publish: true.
get_articleReturns the article's status, its fact-check verdict and every source. Poll it after write_article until it reads published or needs_review.
check_claimsFact checks any public URL or pasted Markdown and returns each cited claim with the sources it was compared against.
publish_articlePublishes an article that passed the fact check to the site's publishing target. It changes the live site, so the agent should ask first.
get_performanceSearch Console clicks, impressions and average position for a site, by day and by article.
get_queriesThe queries a site, or one article, appears for in Search Console. This is where page-two keywords show up.

Plain requests. The tools each one uses are listed under it.
“Use Paperboy to list my sites, then get the top queries for the first site and return the five that rank on page two as a numbered list.”

“Ask Paperboy for three topic ideas for my main site, pick the one with the strongest reason, write the article, and return the article id.”
Uses get_sitessuggest_topicswrite_article
“Fact check the draft URL from the webhook with Paperboy and summarize any unsupported claims in two lines.”

Why
Make's MCP Client is in open beta, and its docs do not say which transports it supports or how it sends the token. That is why this page also gives the documented fallback: the HTTP module with an API key keychain, which sends the bearer header exactly.
Make suggests the Call a tool module for testing a server before you use Execute an action with AI, which bills AI tokens. To read X-Paperboy-Signature on a custom webhook, switch on Get request headers in its advanced settings.

Honest notes
Quirks of this client that can cost you an afternoon.
MCP Client is in open beta, and Make says functionality and pricing may change. Execute an action with AI bills AI tokens against your Make credits if you pick Make's AI provider, or against your own OpenAI account if you pick OpenAI.
Make recommends Call a tool for testing a server before using Execute an action with AI, and advises excluding irrelevant tools in the Tools field. Leave out write_article and publish_article for agents that only need to read.
To read X-Paperboy-Signature in a scenario, turn on Get request headers in the Custom webhook's Advanced settings. Make's optional API Key authentication on a webhook expects an x-make-apikey header, so leave it off for Paperboy and check the signature in a later step. Webhook payloads are limited to 5 MB.
FAQ
Yes, through the MCP Client app, which is in open beta for all users. You create a connection with the server URL and, if needed, an API Key / Access token, then use the Call a tool or Execute an action with AI modules.
The docs do not say. The verified server list in the docs includes both /mcp and /sse style URLs, so run Call a tool against https://paperboyseo.com/mcp to confirm, and use the HTTP module if it fails.
Use HTTP > Make a request with Authentication type set to API key. Create a keychain with Key set to Bearer pb_live_YOUR_KEY, API key placement set to In the header, and API key parameter name set to Authorization.
Add a Webhooks > Custom webhook module as the trigger, create a webhook, and turn on Get request headers under Advanced settings. Give the generated URL to Paperboy, and the X-Paperboy-Signature header becomes available for mapping.
The tools that read cost nothing. Suggesting topics costs 1 credit, writing a fact-checked article costs 12 credits (refunded if the run fails) and a fact check on its own costs 2 credits. A pack is $20 for 100 credits.
Only if you let it. write_article defaults to publish: false, so a finished article waits for a human, and the tool descriptions tell the agent to ask before publishing. You can also give the agent a read-only key.
