Paperboy for Cline
Cline can run the whole loop in VS Code: read your queries, write the article, fact check it, then wait for your OK before anything goes live.
Set up
You will add a paperboy entry of type streamableHttp, with an Authorization header, to Cline's MCP settings JSON.
In Paperboy, open Settings and create an API key. It starts with pb_live_.
In the Cline panel, click the MCP Servers icon (the stacked server icon in the top toolbar).
Open the Configure tab and click Configure MCP Servers (the button near the bottom). This opens the MCP settings JSON.
Add the paperboy entry under mcpServers, using type streamableHttp, and save the file.
Check that paperboy shows up in the MCP Servers panel, then ask Cline to call one Paperboy tool, such as get_sites.

},
"disabled": false,
"autoApprove": []
}
}
}Replace pb_live_YOUR_KEY with a key from Settings, API keys, and never commit it. The MCP docs list every client we cover.
How to tell it worked
Open the MCP Servers icon and check that the paperboy tools appear, then test one tool call. From the terminal, run cline config mcp (or cline config mcp --json) to list servers, or run cline mcp to see enabled and disabled status.
How to remove it
In the MCP Servers panel, remove the server from MCP settings, or delete the paperboy entry from the JSON. From the CLI, run cline mcp remove paperboy.
What you get
Eight tools, the same engine as the dashboard. Reads are free. A pack is $20 for 100 credits; see how credits work.
get_sitesLists your sites with plan, publishing method and whether Search Console is connected. Every other call starts from a site id.
suggest_topicsReturns the next articles to write, each with the search data that is the reason for it.
write_articleStarts a fact-checked article and returns an id at once. The run takes a few minutes. It does not publish unless you pass publish: true.
get_articleReturns the article's status, its fact-check verdict and every source. Poll it after write_article until it reads published or needs_review.
check_claimsFact checks any public URL or pasted Markdown and returns each cited claim with the sources it was compared against.
publish_articlePublishes an article that passed the fact check to the site's publishing target. It changes the live site, so the agent should ask first.
get_performanceSearch Console clicks, impressions and average position for a site, by day and by article.
get_queriesThe queries a site, or one article, appears for in Search Console. This is where page-two keywords show up.

Plain requests. The tools each one uses are listed under it.

Why
Cline has two ways to add a remote server and only one of them sends a header. The Remote Servers form asks for a name and a URL, so use the JSON file or the cline command to attach the key. Set the type to streamableHttp too, or Cline falls back to the older transport and Paperboy will not connect.
Cline asks you to review tool calls, and autoApprove is the list that skips the question. Put get_performance and get_queries on it, since they only read. Keep publish_article off it, and keep write_article off it too while you learn what a run costs.

Honest notes
Quirks of this client that can cost you an afternoon.
The Remote Servers tab asks for Server Name, Server URL and Transport Type (Streamable HTTP or SSE Legacy), then Add Server. It has no header field in the docs, so use the Configure tab JSON, or cline mcp add with --header, to send the Authorization header.
Set "type": "streamableHttp" yourself. If type is left out, Cline defaults to the legacy sse transport for backward compatibility, and Paperboy would not connect.
Cline asks you to review tool calls, and the autoApprove array is what skips that. The docs say to limit autoApprove to safe tools, and the Auto Approve setting for MCP servers and YOLO mode both approve MCP tools without asking. Keep publish_article out of autoApprove.
FAQ
The tab only takes a name, URL and transport type, so the Authorization header is missing. Add the server in the Configure tab JSON with a headers object, or use cline mcp add with --header.
Choose Streamable HTTP, which the docs recommend. In JSON that is "type": "streamableHttp". Leaving type out defaults to the legacy sse transport.
For the CLI it is ~/.cline/data/settings/cline_mcp_settings.json, and you can override it with the CLINE_MCP_SETTINGS_PATH environment variable. In the IDE extension, the Configure MCP Servers button opens the settings JSON for you.
The docs say to limit autoApprove to safe tools and to review tool calls before approval. Leave write and publish tools such as write_article and publish_article out so Cline asks first.
The tools that read cost nothing. Suggesting topics costs 1 credit, writing a fact-checked article costs 12 credits (refunded if the run fails) and a fact check on its own costs 2 credits. A pack is $20 for 100 credits.
Only if you let it. write_article defaults to publish: false, so a finished article waits for a human, and the tool descriptions tell the agent to ask before publishing. You can also give the agent a read-only key.
