Paperboy for Continue
In Continue's Agent mode, ask for the next article and have Paperboy write it, fact check it and hand back Markdown for your repo.
Set up
You will add a YAML file to your workspace that registers Paperboy as a streamable-http MCP server with a bearer header.
Create a folder called .continue/mcpServers at the top level of your workspace (note the plural Servers).
Add a file called paperboy.yaml to that folder, paste the block above, and replace pb_live_YOUR_KEY with the key from Paperboy Settings.
Switch Continue to Agent mode with the mode selector below the chat input box (or press Cmd/Ctrl + . to cycle modes).
Ask Continue to use a Paperboy tool, for example: List my Paperboy sites.
When Continue asks for permission to run the tool, click Continue to allow it or Cancel to reject it.
name: Paperboy MCP
version: 0.0.1
schema: v1
mcpServers:
- name: paperboy
type: streamable-http
url: https://paperboyseo.com/mcp
requestOptions:
headers:
Authorization: Bearer pb_live_YOUR_KEY
Replace pb_live_YOUR_KEY with a key from Settings, API keys, and never commit it. The MCP docs list every client we cover.
How to tell it worked
Run a low-impact prompt in Agent mode that names Paperboy (for example, list my sites) and approve the tool call. You can also click the tools icon in the input toolbar to see tools and their policies.
How to remove it
Delete paperboy.yaml from .continue/mcpServers (or remove the paperboy entry from the mcpServers list in config.yaml).
What you get
Eight tools, the same engine as the dashboard. Reads are free. A pack is $20 for 100 credits; see how credits work.
get_sitesLists your sites with plan, publishing method and whether Search Console is connected. Every other call starts from a site id.
suggest_topicsReturns the next articles to write, each with the search data that is the reason for it.
write_articleStarts a fact-checked article and returns an id at once. The run takes a few minutes. It does not publish unless you pass publish: true.
get_articleReturns the article's status, its fact-check verdict and every source. Poll it after write_article until it reads published or needs_review.
check_claimsFact checks any public URL or pasted Markdown and returns each cited claim with the sources it was compared against.
publish_articlePublishes an article that passed the fact check to the site's publishing target. It changes the live site, so the agent should ask first.
get_performanceSearch Console clicks, impressions and average position for a site, by day and by article.
get_queriesThe queries a site, or one article, appears for in Search Console. This is where page-two keywords show up.
Try it
Plain requests. The tools each one uses are listed under it.
“Use Paperboy to find my page-two queries, pick the best one, and write an article for it. Save the markdown into content/blog.”

Why
Continue is the open source assistant for VS Code and JetBrains, and it reads MCP servers from YAML files in .continue/mcpServers. One small file registers Paperboy for the whole workspace, and you can commit the file if the key stays out of it.
MCP tools only run in Agent mode, so switch there before you ask. Continue asks first by default and shows Cancel and Continue buttons before each call, which is the right default for write_article. From the tools icon you can set a tool to Automatic or Excluded.

Honest notes
Quirks of this client that can cost you an afternoon.
MCP tools are only available in Agent mode. In Chat or Plan mode Continue will not call get_sites, write_article or any other Paperboy tool.
By default Agent mode uses Ask First: you get Cancel and Continue buttons before each tool runs. From the tools icon you can set a tool to Automatic or Excluded. The docs warn against Automatic for tools that are not read-only, so keep write_article and publish_article on Ask First.
Continue picks up any YAML or JSON file in .continue/mcpServers automatically. A standalone block file needs the name, version and schema fields. The header value sits in the file as plain text, so keep it out of git. The ${{ secrets.NAME }} syntax is documented for args and env fields only.
FAQ
Yes. Set type to streamable-http and give a url. The docs list sse, stdio and streamable-http as the supported types.
Use requestOptions with headers on the MCP server entry. The config reference says requestOptions applies to sse and streamable-http servers and uses the same format as model requestOptions.
The docs say MCP can only be used in Agent mode. Use the mode selector below the chat input box to switch.
By default yes. The tool policy is Ask First, with Cancel and Continue buttons. You can change a tool to Automatic or Excluded from the tools icon in the input toolbar.
The tools that read cost nothing. Suggesting topics costs 1 credit, writing a fact-checked article costs 12 credits (refunded if the run fails) and a fact check on its own costs 2 credits. A pack is $20 for 100 credits.
Only if you let it. write_article defaults to publish: false, so a finished article waits for a human, and the tool descriptions tell the agent to ask before publishing. You can also give the agent a read-only key.
