How do I write my first article with the Paperboy API?

Go from an API key to a fact-checked, published article in four curl calls. You need a Paperboy account with at least one site, and some credits.

Step 1: Make an API key

Open Settings, API keys, name a key and copy it. It starts with pb_live_ and is shown once. Buy a credit pack on the same page: $20 for 100 credits.

Step 2: List your sites

Copy the id of the site you want and export it as SITE_ID.

Step 3: Ask what to write next

Costs 1 credit. Each topic comes with the reason, written from your Search Console data when it is connected. Copy the id of the topic you like.

Step 4: Write the article

Costs 12 credits. It answers 202 at once, and the run takes a few minutes. Send an Idempotency-Key so a retry never charges twice.

Step 5: Publish it

The finished article comes back with its fact-check verdict and sources. A passed article waits for your approval. Publish it (free, needs a key with the publish scope):

Can I fact check a page I did not write with Paperboy?

Yes. Costs 2 credits. Send a URL or Markdown. You get a verdict and each cited claim with the sources it was compared against.
