Paperboy is an AI SEO article writer and publisher by Hive Asset Group, LLC. It researches, writes, fact-checks and publishes SEO articles to your own site, so a small business with no writer can get a steady blog without hiring one. Your first article is free, no credit card, and you can approve each post before it goes live.
Paperboy makes this page and is one of the five options in the table. Treat the comparison with that in mind.
What Google says about AI-written blog posts
Short version: using AI is allowed. Sloppy content is the problem.
Google's guidance says generative AI "can be particularly useful when researching a topic, and to add structure to original content." It also warns that using these tools "to generate many pages without adding value for users may violate Google's spam policy," and says it is "critical to manually factcheck and review" such content "for accuracy and trustworthiness before publishing" (Google Search Central, using generative AI content, read October 23, 2026).
Google's helpful content page frames the test the same way: "People-first content means content that's created primarily for people, and not to manipulate search engine rankings" (Google Search Central, creating helpful content, read October 23, 2026). So the question to ask a tool is not whether it uses AI. It is whether the posts help your customers and whether the facts hold up.
One more line worth knowing: "There are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, nor other special optimizations necessary" (Google Search Central, AI features and your website, read October 23, 2026). No tool can promise rankings, traffic or AI citations, Paperboy included.
The 7 things to demand from an AI blog writer
Use this as a checklist. If a vendor's page does not answer one, ask before you pay.
- It publishes to my site. A draft in a dashboard is homework. You want posts that land on your blog, whether that is WordPress, Ghost, a hosted blog or a webhook. Paperboy lists a hosted blog on your custom domain, WordPress, Ghost, a webhook and a site-builder prompt. Shopify, Wix and Webflow are coming soon, not live (paperboyseo.com). Our WordPress guide covers how that connection works.
- It shows its fact check. Ask what is compared against what. Paperboy's page says every number must appear in the source it links to, and every cited sentence is compared with that source's own words. Articles that fail get one rewrite, then are held for you (paperboyseo.com). That checks the article against its sources. It does not prove the source is right.
- It picks topics from my data, or at least tells me how. Ask where topics come from. Paperboy can use Search Console to sharpen topic picks, but the connection is optional (paperboyseo.com). Whatever the tool, the topics should be about your customers' questions, not filler.
- The price per month is on the page. Look for the plan, the article count and whether extras cost more. Credits, add-ons and sale banners change the real price.
- I can approve before it publishes. Paperboy's Approve-first option emails each article before it goes live, or you can leave it on autopilot (paperboyseo.com). Read the first three posts from any tool before you let it run.
- I own the posts. On Paperboy, published articles stay yours if you cancel (paperboyseo.com). Other vendors' terms of use are not covered in this table.
- I can cancel in one step. Paperboy cancels with one button on the Billing page. Check that any tool you pick says how to cancel before you enter a card.
Five options at a glance
Every fact is linked to the company's own page and was read October 22, 2026. "Not listed" means we did not find it on the pages we read. It is not proof the feature is missing. Prices change and vendors run promotions, so confirm on the vendor's page before you buy.
| Tool | Price per month | Publishes to your site | Fact check or sources | Approve first, ownership, cancelling |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paperboy (ours) | Starter $49, 3 articles a week (source) | Hosted blog, WordPress, Ghost, webhook, site-builder prompt (source) | Listed: every number must appear in its linked source, cited sentences compared with the source's words (source) | Approve-first option listed. Published articles stay yours. Cancel on the Billing page (source) |
| Outrank | $99, 30 articles a month, Paperboy's snapshot of October 4, 2026 (source) | "Generated and published on auto-pilot," with WordPress and others listed (source) | Not listed for the $99 plan. A $1,399 a month "Human Curated Service" add-on is listed (source) | Not listed on the pricing page |
| SEObot | "Subscriptions start at $49/mo" (source) | "100% autopilot by default," with WordPress and others listed (source) | Listed: "fact checking system, with citation of sources" (source) | Not listed on the page we read |
| Arvow | Solo $39, shown as a limited-time price with $69 as the regular price (source) | AutoBlog listed, with WordPress and others (source) | Not listed on the pricing page (source) | Not listed on the pricing page |
| RightBlogger | Solo $49 billed annually, $59 month to month (source) | "Auto-published to your blog" (source) | Not listed on the pricing page (source) | Not listed on the pricing page |
Arvow bills in credits, 15 credits per article with images costing extra, so its article count depends on how you spend them (arvow.com/pricing, read October 22, 2026). Outrank adds backlinks and 150+ languages; see our Outrank alternatives page. If you only want a general writing assistant and will publish yourself, see Jasper alternatives. Paperboy plans
Plans are per site. Starter is $49 a month for 3 articles a week. Growth is $99 a month for 1 article a day. Pro is $179 a month for 2 a day. Extra sites are 20 percent off, and yearly billing gives two months free (paperboyseo.com).
Not listed on Paperboy's page: a backlink service or an AI search tracker.
Cost vs a freelancer
We could not find a freelancer or agency per-post price on an official page we could cite, so we are not quoting one. Rates vary too much by niche and length for a single number to be fair. Ask for a written quote and compare it to the math below.
What we can source is a wage. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics lists a median pay of $36.98 per hour for writers and authors in 2025 (BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, read October 23, 2026). That is an employee wage, not a freelance rate. A freelancer's price will also cover business costs and your editing time. Treat it as a floor for what an hour of writing is worth.
Now the arithmetic. Three articles a week is about 13 a month (3 times 52 weeks, divided by 12). Paperboy's Starter plan is $49 a month for those articles. At $36.98 an hour, $49 buys about 1.3 hours of a writer's time at the BLS median.
What you still own: reading the posts, knowing your business and adding what only you know, such as prices, local details and photos. A freelancer who knows your trade may beat any tool on those. A tool wins on schedule and cost. Many owners split it: a tool for the steady weekly posts, a person for the pages that matter most.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI blog writer for a small business?
It depends on what you need. If you have no writer, look for one that publishes to your site, shows how it checks facts, lets you approve posts and states a monthly price. Paperboy, Outrank, SEObot, Arvow and RightBlogger are compared above, and Paperboy made the comparison.
Does Google allow AI-written blog posts?
Yes. Google says generative AI can be useful for researching a topic and adding structure to original content. It warns against generating many pages without adding value for users, and asks you to fact-check before publishing (Google Search Central, read October 23, 2026).
How much does an AI blog writer cost per month?
In the table, listed starting prices run from $39 to $99 a month, read October 22, 2026. Paperboy's Starter is $49 for 3 articles a week, Growth is $99 for 1 a day and Pro is $179 for 2 a day. Volume differs, so compare articles included.

On Paperboy, yes. The Approve-first option emails each article to you before it publishes, or you can leave it on autopilot. Your first article is free with no credit card, and you see it before picking a plan (paperboyseo.com).
Do I own the posts if I cancel?
On Paperboy, published articles stay yours. You cancel with one button on the Billing page (paperboyseo.com). Ownership terms for other tools are not covered here, so read each vendor's terms before you buy.
