What does the badge do?
The text link says "Fact-checked by Paperboy" and goes to the report for that one article at https://paperboyseo.com/verify/ARTICLE_ID: the claims, the sources, the verdict and the date. A small link to the Paperboy homepage sits beside it. Readers can check the work.
The badge is never inside the article text and never added without your opt-in.
What do I get for turning it on?
One extra article a month on top of your plan, shown on your billing page. The badge does not decide whether you are on the showcase: every site that publishes with Paperboy is listed there by default, and you can opt out in Site settings. Turn the badge off any time in Site settings.

No. There is no link exchange and nothing is required of you in return. The anchor is the brand name only, it points to a page about that article, and it is added only on sites that opt in. The report shows the real verdict, including when the check held something back.
